Teaching for Technology and Learning - Syllabus and CHED Memorandum Order
Good Day! I'm Emhil Cacha, I'm currently studying in my second year in Technological University of the Philippines – Taguig Campus in the program of Bachelor of Technical Vocational Teacher Education. This blog is all about the course Technology for Teaching and Learning I. First of all what is different between "course" and "program" in education? The program is the one you enrolled in your school while the course is the subject in the program. For example, the program I took is BTVTEd and one of the courses that I study right now is Technology, Teaching, and Learning. Every course has a Syllabus, the syllabus is the outcome-base of the course. This is where written the goals, outcome and the objective of the course. While in the program its also has a memorandum order from the CHED, the CHED Memorandum Order is an order that needs to follow for every program in the school. This is the where all the important detail of the program stated like the program outcome, the courses, and unit to take, the facilities and equipment that needed and qualification.
According to the CHED Memorandum Order No. 79 series of 2017 the BTVTED program aims to develop highly competent and motivated teachers in technical and vocational education in their area of specialization. It was made for the K-12 graduates which their track is Technical Vocational Livelihood who wants to be a future teacher. The BTVTED has several specializations that align with the track and strand that you take in Grade 11 and Grade 12. For example, you are K-12 graduate in the track of Technical-Vocational Livelihood in the strand of Computer Hardware Servicing you are aligned in BTVTED with a specialization in Computer Hardware Servicing as well. In addition, the main concern of the BTVTEd program is the preparation of teachers in TLE for Grade 9-10, a senior high school for the Technical – Vocational Livelihood Track. So, the BTVTEd is widely competitive to other program and it was good to have this program because many of the students choose the track TVL in their senior high school who wants to be a future teacher.
I never regret or change my mind in the program I have now. It's a privilege to be a future teacher in my country. Now I'm in the second year to my journey to become a teacher and there is a lot of things that I have to learn, a lot of minor and major courses to take. But as of now, I have to be ready for the things that we will do in the future.
